Following Chrizpy Chriz's major EP release 'A.D.D.' via VALE earlier this year, we wanted to give the community at large a chance to manifest their vision of this work with a remix contest. We chose the track 'Scattered', voted by Magnetic Magazine as a top 15 bass track of August, to be the canvas. The concept of 'Scattered' was to be broken with erratic changes in character, a meld of futurism and mechanical sound. Containing a number of unique elements and approach, it was a challenging track to reimagine. In the audio section you will find the original track and the remixes from the three contest winners below:
This Holland based producer, going by the street name, Youri, has been involved in production since 2009. Evolving from his original love of dubstep, his speciality now is within the more intricate forms of neuro and sound design focused music. He contributed to VALE's first compilation 'Awareness' and also notably was part of the coveted 'Unity Project' as a collaborator with Culprate. Stated simply, Youri's take on this track was frenetic and emerged naturally.
Known under various aliases over the last decade, Calgary-based artist Adam Blanchard made the decision to depart from rigid industry conventions and begin anew. A classically trained pianist and jazz lover, Blanchard incorporates his love of organic instrumentation through sampling live instruments, then meticulously tweaking each sample into something that sounds both familiar and alien. Utilizing creative but simple warping using both texture and beats algorithms of Chrizpy's bass designs to yield a microwaved type vibe and personal bass design.
Located in France, Lohan Le Galloudec's compositions are described as dark & textured bass music. Coming off an EP release with VALE last month entitled 'Withstanding' his production aims to fully immerse the listener with unusual sounds and structures while challenging and reflecting on the ideal of art in modern society. While listening to 'Scattered', Lohan immediately thought DnB, and began working the intriguing basses into a piece melting depth and rudeness.
